I write Cold War espionage novels intended to be both entertaining and grounded in real, often little known, international events where intelligence operations changed the course of history. Crown Colony of Spies is my first complete novel and is set in Hong Kong from 1956-59–a time period that is strikingly relevant today, with Soviet invasions of sovereign Eastern European countries, war in the Middle East, and military escalations over Taiwan. In 1956, a world war was averted through diplomacy. In 1958, a world war was averted through intelligence. My novel tells that story.
